The Appeal
When first brought onto the market in 1997, the 996 was a car that upset purists, but made a huge impact worldwide. With the departure from air-cooling, it was fair to say that the car’s mechanical modifications raised eyebrows - but led to an efficient, emission-compliant, water-cooled powerplant that has more than managed to prove its worth. Since then, the 996 has proven a highly desirable machine, that’s only grown more popular as time marches on.
This example is highly original, with fairly low mileage and a beautifully kept interior. This is an excellent, well-maintained example of the much-loved sports car, that’s ready and waiting to return to the road.

- These are shod in Pirelli tyres, which are reportedly brand new
- Underneath, the car is in fine fettle with no major faults we can spot
The Mechanics
- Powered by a 3.4L water-cooled flat-6 engine
- 6-speed Getrag G96/00 Manual transmission
- In May the car was serviced with new oil, filters, spark plugs and coils
- The exhaust is original
- The car is running on a new battery
- The car has an advisory for some perishing to the rear brake disc
- We’ve been informed of no mechanical faults with the vehicle
- The vendor reports that the car is starting, shifting, steering and braking well
Summary
