This is a rare example of an original American market 1st Gen Rx7 ‘FB’ which I shipped to Scotland. I was intending to move to Scotland but alas it did not happen.
As a consequence my beloved Mazda is staying in Scotland and now I have to pass it on.
The car underwent an extensive cosmetic restoration in Georgia, US in late 2012 and is detailed in this forum thread:
I bought the car in 2017 and transported in back to Massachusetts where it was re-registered and I enjoyed a couple years with it. Since acquiring the car I did a number things to maintain it;
- Rebuilt the carb
- New battery and terminals
- New Bosch Starter Motor
- Replaced plugs, leads, fuel filter
- New fan clutch
- New clutch master and slave
- Replaced various hoses due to vacuum leaks
The cosmetics (trim, body work, seals, upholstery etc) are all immaculate. There is extremely little rust on this car. The car is very clean. All electrical components, including pop-up head lights work well.
After shipping to the Uk it has been serviced and stored at a professional car storage facility where it was brought to Uk spec (see attached invoice).
The car is fully registered in the Uk with V5C and soon to be tax exempt owing to its age.
This car is in good working order but by no means perfect. I want to be as transparent as possible about its condition so please ask any questions! Known issues are;
- Shutter valve is currently wired open on inlet manifold
- Small leak in exhaust at the manifold
- Door windows are stiff to wind
The car has 144k, starts first time, every time, cold and hot. Idles fine (800 ish), has good throttle response and secondaries open smoothly. Original 12a engine is in good working order. Fuel bowls are both dead level on the carb. Temp gauge moves between just above min and half way.

Exterior condition is near immaculate.
Minor paint crack in front air dam by spotlight (see photos).
Slight crack in passenger side tail light (see photo).
Minor colouration on wheels in places.
Near immaculate interior.
All seals replaced.
Seats reupholstered.
Slight wear on gear knob.
Wear on driver floor mat.
Driver window wind is sticking.
Original 12a in good condition. No obvious oil leaks.
Rebuilt carb. Float bowls are dead on. Secondary butterfly’s operating smoothly.
Shutter valve disabled in inlet manifold (wired open).
No accidents. Never welded.
