Alpina B10 V8 – The one Everyone Wants – Collector Edition
You are looking at arguably the most desirable version of an already highly exclusive vehicle in absolutely perfect condition with exceptional provenance in what is easily the most iconic colour combination of its era being Estoril Blue over Champagne Leather. It is believed to be one of only three cars specified accordingly with most Alpinas being Alpina blue or Avus blue. If you’re a fan of these cars, you will already know the significance of Estoril and Champagne and how special it was in the late 90s and early 2000s being reserved by BMW for its Individual programme only. In addition to its unique colour combination, you will notice it has the highly coveted genuine factory Alpina ducktail Spoiler known as the 710 spoiler normally only seen on European cars or occasionally the V8-S. If you’re a fan as I am you will know these are impossible to obtain now and the forums are awash with owners trying to recreate what is regarded as the very best rear end on an any E39. Work and condition:
• Huge history file beautifully and neatly chronologically ordered detailing the love and attention spent during its lifetime.
• Five thousand pounds spent in the last year on ensuring this car spends the next 20 years of its life in perfect order including tracking down an original BMW Telephone handset which was missing when I bought the car
• Original preserved Alpina B10 “Automobiles for the Connoisseur” Sales material.
• Fully paint corrected and ceramic and hence has a deep shine and lustre
• New wheel bearings
• Two original and rare Alpina leather key tags.
• New front suspension components to ensure perfect compliance and performance as well as totally silent as these cars are famous for.
• New Brembo brake discs and pads (correct factory specification not generic options as found on so many) two months ago front and rear – Huge costs!
• New brake callipers front and rear – These are known to need rebuilding. Almost all I have seen are corroded. I have replaced them completely at great expense with correct factory OEM parts only.
• Sills are a known weak spot on E39s. Absolutely no rust as these have been done to a high standard
• Perfect interior. The unique specification is black carpets with the Alpina blue and green chevrons that genuinely look new. I don’t think the back seats have ever been used. This year I tracked down by recommendation one of the original employees from Conolly Leather known as one of the best in the country to come and freshen up the front seats. This meant retaining the original factory leather as I wanted originality. As such the whole interior would not look out of place in an Alpina showroom. It’s mint!
If you are a fan of these cars, you will know they are bullet proof investments. The equivalent M5 always appreciates in value faster but eventually the Alpinas that are made in far smaller numbers end up being worth more than their M counterparts. With E39 M5 prices being £40 to £50k for the best these Alpina V8 cars are set for dizzy heights and look incredible value.
