Description

An alpine white Alpina C1 over blue Recaro cloth sports seats, powered by BMW's legendary 2. 3L inline-six with twin Alpina spec Super-Sprint exhausts.

Additional features include: a Gertrag five speed manual transmission; Alpina graphics; 15 inch Alpina wheels shod with Yokohama Advan rubber; four wheel disc brakes; front and rear Alpina spec spoilers; a manually operated sunroof; four spoke Alpina steering wheel; Alpina instruments; Alpina gear shift and a Pioneer radio and CD player with blue tooth phone connectivity.

The car is in very good to excellent condition mechanically and cosmetically, with its original paint work showing the patina expected of a car of this age. The front edge of the bonnet and front skirt have a small number of stone chips, and there is some evidence of previously treated inactive rust behind the drivers side rear side window. There is also a small crack in the paint where the rear spoiler meets the boot lid drivers side, but no sign of any deterioration or rust.

Apart from these minor cosmetic items and recent replacement of the fuel pumps, all that has been needed is routine periodic servicing.

A joy to drive but I have a looming shortage of garage space and so it is time to move it on to another who will value and enjoy it.

The price is realistic but I am in no rush to sell.

In late 2025, as an improvement I replaced the entire exhaust system with an Alpina Spec Super Sprint exhaust running all the way to and including the headers. I have noticed a distinct increase in power and torque most notably in the mid-range.

The E21 BMW Alpina C1 2. 3 is a rare example of one of BMW's most engaging sports coupes of the 1980s'. What makes this example even rarer is that it is a factory Alpina, having has its Alpina chassis kit fitted in Buchloe.

This is a German-delivered right hand drive model, receiving its pre-delivery check at Erwin Martin GmbH on 11 March 1982 and its Alpina FD 3 chassis kit in August 1983. This is confirmed by an original letter signed by Alpina founder Burkard Bovensiepen and receiving an Alpina production plaque and production number C1-0382.

It found its way to Australia with its owner in late 1983, spending the next 40ish years in and around Brisbane, across three long term custodians. Purchased a few years ago by well-known Melbourne BMW specialists Southern BM, I came across it in their warehouse and persuaded them to part with it.
