2013 Morgan 4/ 4.
I ordered this car from the factory via Stratton Motor Company near Norwich. Nine months later it arrived.
I chose the black paintwork, black wheels, black leather interior to as closely as possible
give the car a 'sixties look'. Optional extras: wooden dashboard, spare wheel, clock, radio/ cd
fitments aerial etc ( although I have never fitted a radio or CD player ). Moto-Lita wheel. Overriders. 'Morgan' 'boot' badge, Union Jacks flags
on the bonnet sides.
I chose the 4/ 4 as opposed to the +4 after testing a +4 and found that the extra power rather spoilt
the driving experience. Turned it into more of a cruiser. The car is very light - you can easily push it around with one hand.
This contributes the the 45+ mpg. The car is surprisingly easy to drive, with the exception of the handbrake which takes a bit of getting used to.
Visibility with the roof up is better than I expected, and in fact it's a nice place to be. Not claustrophobic as might be expected.
The heater is pretty good, and improves the driving experience in the winter if you have the roof down - which you will more than you might imagine.
Storage space is limited to behind the seats - although you can order a rack to fit over the spare wheel. I bought two leather bags which fit nicely behind the
seats - which will come with the car. There is space behind these too. I bought a 1967 'F' plate from the DVLA, which I run with white on black plates.
The modern plastic versions are easy to fit for the MOT. Obviously it will be up to the new owner if they choose to run these old style plates.
I have never had an issue with them. The cars original 2013 plate is still available btw. I have the headrests and wooden glove box lid safely stored. I prefer the car without them.
Morgan's don't seem to depreciate, arguably they appreciate. This seems to have been even more the case since I bought mine, as new Morgan prices have gone up and up. The car is insured for more than I payed for it.
Unless it's very damp - from rain to mist - you can run with the roof down most of the year, depending how tolerant you are of the sun. Christmas Day with the roof down, heater on, empty roads, is a nice experience.
Many Morgan's spend their lives in their garage, it's a terrible waste of what is, under the skin, a usable car. The roof is easy to take down and put up. In fact as long as you are not moving,
you can put the roof up and fix it without getting out of the car.
Fun to drive, decent handling, good turn of speed. Real feel good factor, not unlike driving a pre-war car, but more
practical and reliable.
Please get in touch if you are interested in seeing the car.
I am 13 miles from Bury St Edmunds / A14.
