Description
IT MAKES a pleasant change to come across a 65-year-old Morgan, as opposed to one of the many "modern" versions that abound. Built in 1960, she was purchased by an Army Major who was posted to Cyprus and took the Morgan with him. Both he and the car returned three years later. By the 1980s, the car had found its way to a garage business where it was totally restored. The original 1172 Ford side valve engine was removed (hardly surprisingly) and a Ford 1600cc installed. This was totally re-bored with new crank, pistons etc. She still drives superbly to this day. A Ford Type-9 5-speed gear box was also added. Disc brakes with servo was another improvement made at the time of resto. According to the history, the Morgan has done just a handful of miles ever since. I must say however that she was a joy to drive the other day with a hugely responsive engine and great handling.
Structure is excellent, as is both body and paint work. Her interior boasts the original set-up of seat and early style dashboard. Her hood and side screens look to be as good as new and very possibly are!
All in all, a really beautiful example of this true British sports car.
