Description
1964 Mercury Montclair
Range-topping Mercury Monterey called the Montclair with plenty of extra chrome, imported from Canada and now fresh from major work since I bought it back in 2020.
It's fitted with a freshly rebuilt, Boss-spec Ford 302 5. 0-litre V8 engine.
I have had the block painted red to match the car, a new 600 Holley fitted and a custom exhaust leading to cherry bomb glass packs add to the theatre!
You'll also find electronic ignition and a freshly rebuilt C4 three-speed Ford auto transmission fitted for silky smooth shifts.
The car drives as-new, with the front suspension taken apart and rebuilt. New bushes, arms, shocks, the lot!
I have also had the front drum brakes swapped for a Wilwood disc brake kit.
It's riding on the original 15-inch wheels with as-new Hankook tyres for more modern handling and stopping. I have the original hubcaps if you prefer.
Inside the seats are in superb condition, as is the carpet. The headlining is in great condition.
At the back is the car's best feature - a working 'Breezeway' electric rear window that slides down behind the rear seats to let you enjoy that V8 noise!
Mechanically the car is perfect and overall it is in great condition given it is approaching 60 years of age.
The original radio is in place but will need to be set up with a new aerial and the door cards could do with a spruce up, although are perfectly useable as they are now.
This is a stunning and ultra-rare classic that is ready to be taken to your local show with the family, with only a few minor cosmetic jobs if you wish to do them.
I bought the car when living in Hampshire with plenty of space, but now in London, I'm sadly not able to store it.
I'm happy to chat on the phone about it and provide extra pictures and videos.
Also happy to provide the names and numbers of the people who completed all the work.
Thanks!
