Description
This is a rare Dutton B kit from 1973, chassis no BT134, it used the identity from a 1961 Ford Consul. The kit was finished and registered in 1979 and used until 1986 and did not move a wheel until I bought it nearly 2 years ago.
I stripped it down to the bare chassis and rebuilt the body with new aluminium and repaired and respayed the fibreglass.(The fibreglass quality was notoriously poor and there are one or two blemishes) Mechanically I rebuilt the brakes( new seals hoses and pipes) New fuel system including a new fuel tank and pump. New exhaust. The flywheel was skimmed and a new clutch was fitted. New wiring loom from Autosparks which includes modern fuses and relays. The engine ran very well and so was inspected and a new water pump was fitted , new aluminium radiator with electric fan. ( I believe the engine is a very early 1600cc cross flow.)
The wheels are Spitfire/ GT6 5 1/ 2 J steel wheels and were refurbished and shod with new rubber.
It is currently fitted with a low Perspex fly screen, which I think gives it a more purposeful stance, I do have the original windscreen, hood hoop and hood, if you wanted to put it back to how it was.
It passed its MOT at the beginning of June , however it is MOT and tax exempt.
It is a blast to drive , mechanically very simple, bits have come from a number of sources, including Hillman, VW, Triumph and Ford.
Plenty of history and literature also to come with the car.
Happy to answer any question.
