1990 BMW E30 325i Cabriolet
A fantastically original example of a Central London, HR Owen supplied manual 325i cabriolet.
It’s a desirable combination of (BMW Schwarz) Black paintwork with matching black leather sports interior; it really looks the business with the roof down.
It’s covered 118’000 Miles from new, with an MOT until February 2024. I have a print-out detailing dealer visits with the car from 1996-2008, with a large folder of documented repairs and work to go along-side this. Also included in this folder is every MOT certificate for the car.
Supplied new in 1990 in Central London, this car has no doubt had some fastidious previous owners. The most recent of which has had the car for 8 years and it remained garaged, well protected, and loved during this time.
The paintwork wears it’s 33 years exceptionally well, the rear quarters were refinished in 2018 alongside repairs to the leading edges of both rear arches. There are only a few small dings and scratches, nothing that’s not commensurate with age. Most crucially, the car is free of rust.
The chrome bumpers and trim on the car have all survived exceptionally well, they remain bright and shiny.
Inside the car, the black leather shows only the lightest of patina throughout. The driver’s seat bolster has suffered some wear but is still presentable. Similarly, the m-tech 1 steering wheel shows signs of use throughout the years. The dashboard has fared very well and remains crack free; a cover is included for the dash to protect it from UV damage.
The underside of the car is all original, there’s no nasty underseal hiding anything and no evidence of any previous welding. The car’s wheel arches, sills, scuttle, strut tops, boot shut are all immaculate.
The suspension has been replaced on all 4 corners with an Eibach/ Bilstein set up, allowing the car to handle very well. At the same time, all bump stops and top mounts were replaced. Shortly after this, a full oem-spec exhaust system was fitted to the car.
The straight six engine is in excellent running order, having had a full ignition system replacement and cambelt change this year. Previous cambelt/ WP changes were made in 2015 and 2019. The car pulls very well, and while not considered quick by modern standards, is plenty brisk enough. The gearbox shifts smoothly with no issues and the clutch appears to have plenty of life left.
The car drives faultlessly, it tracks straight as an arrow and stops quickly if required. It benefits from a full set of brand-new tyres in the original 205/ 55r15 size, complimenting the factory spec 15” BBS wheels that are in exceptionally good shape.
The manual folding roof was retrimmed In 2015. It doesn’t look to have seen any inclement weather during that time as there’s no signs of fading or damage. The rear poly window remains clear.
A few points to note:
- The odometer reads 107k as it had a replacement cluster fitted in 2011. All MOT certificates from new confirm the mileage of the car to be 118k.
- The central locking, unfortunately, isn’t operating. The car locks manually on both keys.
- There is a chip on the driver’s side of the windscreen.
No more than 2 to view, any groups will be turned away to prevent tampering etc. Happy to take calls to answer any questions, or better still, come and see it in Milton Keynes.
