Beskrivning
The frame on this bike originally left the works in 1968 as a Velocette Venom but during it's life the engine was removed. I bought the frame, oil tank and tool box together with a set of forks and a pair of wheels complete with full width hubs from Ray Thurston at an autojumble at Shepton Mallet in 2015.
It was my intention to build an Endurance replica. I completed the build in March 2017 and had the bike MOT 'd which was necessary to register it with the DVLA. I wasn't happy with the Endurance look and so I decided to build it as a regular Venom but remove the 500cc Venom engine and replace it with a 600cc engine which comprises of a set of new KTT Services crankcases housing a new KTT Services crank assembly with an offset crankpin to provide a 100mm stroke. The con rod and piston are both new KTT Services and are balanced to the crank.
The barrel is an original cast iron Thruxton and the cylinder head is a squished Viper head twin plugged and the inlet port opened up to 32mm amongst other refinements.
I have fitted a Mikuni VM 34carburettor and an Alton electric starter which has a built in alternator.
The ignition system is by TriSpark and works very well.
Another improvement to make riding in modern traffic was to fit indicators.
The bike comes with a V5c. The new engine has only covered 2441 miles to date many of which were covered during participation in the 2022 Colombres Rally in the Picos De Europa. I am the only owner since the completed restoration in 2017.
