Toyota’s original mid-engined MR2 turned the world of sports cars on its head. Taking cues from Fiat’s ground-breaking X1/ 9, Toyota created a delicate, perfectly balanced, neatly styled sports car backed by Toyota levels of reliability.
When it came to replacing the MR2 the firm once again had an Italian car maker in its sights, but this time it was Ferrari. The second generation MR2 took the profile of a 355 and mixed it with what made its original ‘mid-ship runaround’ so great to drive and safe to own.
Here for sale is an absolutely stunning 1991 Toyota MR2 T-Bar with the peppy 2. 0 twin cam engine. This example has an incredibly low mileage of just 19k showing on the odometer.
This example was imported into the UK from Japan in 2000 and I can report the car has only covered a leisurely 15k miles since its arrival with various MOT certificates backing this up to be genuine.
Between the years 1991 to 2000 the car is thought to have only covered circa 4k miles whilst it resided in Japan.
The car has just undergone a light recommissioning after being part of a collection of low mileage, good condition cars. (professionally stored for 6 years, hence no MOT history for this period)
This included a full service inc spark plugs
Fresh MOT.
Various braking system components replaced including brake fluid flush
Cambelt and water pump replaced
Aux belt replaced
The car comes with its original owners manual, service history, MOT certificates, original spare and even the Toyota T-Bar sun shades.
The car goes impeccably and must drive the way it did when it rolled out the dealership for the first time.
The underside appears to be in very good condition with minimal corrosion thanks to careful ownership and careful storage.

Lovely to see the original JDM stickers present. Especially in a Japanese car - it just feels right.

Lovely specification of Black/ charcoal fabric interior with solid red exterior. Radio and aerial works as it should.
If you’re after an engaging, lightweight Japanese sports car from the 90s (has to be the best era for Japanese sports cars right?) this may be just the car for you. She shouldn’t cost the earth to run either!
Also suitable for the collector.
A UK registered car with 28k miles recently sold for £23, 500 at auction. So this one priced at £13, 950 seems like a steal.
