Are you about 5ft 11in tall? Then read on.
With (very) heavy heart I am looking to pass on my Piper GTR.
Having spent a lot of time (and money) getting this car road legal, other projects have now cropped up.
If you Google Piper GTR, you can read all about these ill-starred 1969 Le Mans cars, so I won't bore you here. One of the original four cars provided the basis for a mould of this car, which was built with a bespoke chassis by Piper Racing Cars. That was back in 2007 - it was never road registered, since it lacked various ancillaries necessary for the MoT (lights, for example!).
I finished the project and have had a huge amount of fun with the car, needless to say. It runs on a Ford Zetec and thanks to a low coefficient of drag, will provide the new owner with ample thrills. The Piper comes with a current MoT and spare headlamp fairings. Available by separate negotiation is a set of very sexy alloys that have done under 50 miles.
However, please be aware of a couple of things. This car makes no concession to luxury: there's no carpet, no heater, and no in-car entertainment. You will need also need to be adept at yoga to get in and out of the car (my local MoT staff have never sat in it for this very reason). It is only 30 inches high (yes, 10 inches lower than Ford's GT40).
But... if you want something unique in the UK (the original four cars now reside in the USA and in Japan), and something that attracts small boys (and older folk) in huge numbers, then this particular car might just be for you.
NB Registration number is not included in the sale. Any prospective purchasers will be driven by me on the day.
