Description

Up for sale is my 1997 Isuzu Vehicross from my private collection in Scotland.

The car was imported from Japan by me as I wanted as close to the original 1997 release car as possible i. e. silver with black cladding, original Recaro seats etc. Unfortunately, most of the cars available in the UK were far from original and generally in poor condition. As can be seen from the photographs, this car is in overall excellent condition for it's age and maintains all of the, for 1997, advanced features such as the graphic equaliser screen with the reverse camera display.

It currently has a new set of £1, 500 Fondmetal alloys fitted with new Cooper Discoverer R/ T tyres but the original wheels and tyres which are in great condition will come with the car. It has covered only 55, 000 miles is supplied with a new 12 months MOT.

This is not the usual well used, tatty, Vehicross and, of course, this is reflected in the price. However, you will probably be getting one of the best, if not THE best Vehicross examples in the UK for either using or adding to your collection. Led by Shiro Nakamura and Satomi Murayama, chief designer/ manager at Isuzu's European office in Brussels, the design team was an international group: Simon Cox (assistant chief designer best known for designing the Lotus Elan's interior), Joji Yanaka, Andrew Hill and Nick Robinson. The task was to build a "lightweight but tough, fun but environmentally friendly" SUV.

The VehiCROSS was originally unveiled as a concept vehicle at the 1993 Tokyo International Auto Show. Its ultimate Japanese production release in 1997 was notable in that the production vehicle arrived with very few design changes and in a very short time. This feat was accomplished through the use of inexpensive ceramic body-stamping dies and the reuse of readily-available Isuzu parts. The truck was intended to showcase Isuzu's off-road technology, and is one of the few vehicles to ship with monotube shocks with external heat-expansion chambers, a technology normally reserved for off-road motorcycle racing.
