Description
I have owned this car for thirty years . It is one of the few cars of the last version with the underslung rear suspension which gives more room in the cockpit . I spent a long time searching for this particular model . It was already dismantled when I bought it and I have rebuilt it retaining as much of the original patina as possible . It is not an over restored concourse winner but a drivable car . It has had a new ash frame and new aluminium panels and a new four piece bonnet . The engine has the correct counterbalanced crank which was reground with new white metal big ends and main bearings . The crank , flywheel and Borg and Beck clutch were balanced together . The cylinder head was recently fitted with eight new valves and guides . Six wheels were rebuilt and powder coated black but I have painted them red . The chronometric speedometer and rev counter were restored and the mileage shown is since this restoration . There is a hood and side screens which have rarely been used . This car was delivered to its first owner in December 1935 and he competed in it on the Exeter Trial that year gaining a Bronze award . There are two photographs of it taken in that event and it was pictured in the Autocar report of that event . A later owner continued to use it in trials winning an event in 1938 . In 1939 he competed in the Lands End Trial when he won a Bronze award and there are two photographs of in that event . The car can also be seen briefly in the M. C. C. film of the Lands End Trial that year . I have not used it in any competitions but mainly for club meetings and shows where it always got a good reception . I have in the past driven fairly long journeys but now I am no longer able to enjoy driving it so want to pass it on to someone more able .
