Description
For sale, my red 1977 (registered 7/ 3/ 1977) Honda 400/ 4 Super Sport. The bike has been with me since March 2016. The bike runs, rides, stops steers and is a usable classic. It has the right amount of patina for '77 bike, an original tax disc and is the right condition for the year. Mostly original I believe including the seat. Improvement over the years seem to be the fuel tank which has had a good respray and the mirrors seem to have been replaced at some point. The only thing I have replaced since 2016 are the filters, oil, brake pads, caliper seal, carb seals/ jets and the battery!
Vehicle is MOT and TAX exempt.
The model: Honda produced the CB400F from 1975 to 1977. it has an air-cooled transverse-mounted 408cc inline four-cylinder engine with two valves per cylinder. It is fuelled by four 20 mm Keihin carburettors, and has peak power of 28 kW (37 bhp) @ 8, 500 rpm - impressive especially for a 2-valve air-cooled motor!
The most distinctive feature is the four into one exhaust which if you are looking I guess you know that already.
I am now concentrating on single cylinder British bikes so reluctantly selling the Honda to fund my hobby.
BTW: Would consider a BSA bantam in P/ X. Some service history. Most importantly it has the original Honda service booklet - stamped up to 6000 mile service showing matching details with the bike, including engine number, frame number etc. Generally self-serviced since I purchased the bike (e. g. oil, filter change etc), it has had a recent carb service performed by a local motorcycle mechanic. Last garage full service and MOT was done in September 2020.
Front disc brake caliper was serviced a couple of years ago. Battery was replaced at the same time.
The machine has been lightly used during my ownership
