This is a local 5 owner V8 Land Rover 90 that has been well maintained but was in need of the usual bulkhead and chassis structural repairs. We decided to fully rebuild the vehicle with the aim of removing all the corrosion and making it corrosion resistant in the future. The vehicle itself is a genuine 3. 5 Litre V8 petrol County station Wagon with exceptionally good bodywork. It retains its original specification including the colour, decals, engine, gearbox and interior. The chassis and bulkhead are new galvanised parts. The rear door has been replaced with a fully galvanised one and the two front doors have had new lower frames fitted. The body work was fully stripped and completely professionally resprayed in Windjammer blue. The seat box and rear tub undersides have been raptor epoxy undersealed. The body work is dent free and very straight. This land rover has clearly had a gentle life and had very little off road driving. Mechanically the vehicle is excellent with the LT85 gearbox being the original (which has been fully rebuilt by Ashcroft transmissions). A new clutch and rear crankshaft oil seal was also fitted. The interior was in good order and has been retained for originality with some new seat squabs and backs fitted. The engine has been really well maintained and only required tuning to make it pull very strongly. The exhaust is a new fully stainless version with stainless manifolds also included. The original Rostyle steel wheels (with new tyres) have been refurbished. The electrical system has been upgraded with DAB radio and LED lighting. The side windows and sunroof have all been fitted with new seals and felts and do not rattle or leak. The front windscreen is new and the heated rear came new with the door. As a group of Land Rover owners (we all own Defender TD5's) we were in a good position to take on a friend of ours 1988 County Station wagon as a project. We have spent the last couple of years making this the best V8 90 that we could. It really is as good as the photographs show. It is not often you can say that a Land Rover has no corrosion but we know that this one doesn't. Electrolysis was minimal, the panels were dent free and both the chassis and bulkhead are new. We are convinced that this is a fantastic opportunity for somebody to own a rare V8 County station wagon 90 that has better corrosion resistance than when it was first made. It also drives really well and has plenty of power potential.
