This is my 1968 Automatic MGC in the period colour of pale primrose. Tax and MOT exempt however it has just been Mot'd for peace of mind.
I bought this car in June 2022 from a car dealer in West Sussex. According to the history file the car had previously (2015) had a full body restoration and bare metal respray in the original colour as well as work done to the engine plus retrimmed interior and high quality leather seats.
Prior to purchase, I had a classic MG specialist do an inspection and report on the car which indicated a few minor jobs but basically that the car was very sound. So, I drove the car 80+ miles round the M25 from Petworth to South Oxfordshire with no issues.
I had the gearbox serviced by a local specialist as well as having some basic service work done and fluids replaced etc. I also had the rear springs and bushes replaced.
The straight six engine sounds great and the auto suits the car very well. The gearbox is the standard, 3 speed BW 35 box where you can lock it in 1st or 2nd gear for more spirited driving plus the kickdown works well.
The car is fairly standard with the original leather covered steering wheel and horn push. However, it does have inertia reel belts, electronic ignition, led guages bulbs, single 12V battery, adjustable Spaxs on the rear, knock-off 5. 5J, 15" mini-lite type replica alloys with (2018) 185/ 65 tyres. The car also has a mohair hood on the later folding frame all in good condition and a carpeted boot with gas strut boot supports.
The car performs well, with no worrying smoke or noises on start-up, the cooling system seems fine and car easily keeps up with modern traffic.
The colour gets lots of admiring comments and the chrome is all in great condition which sets the car off well. There is a knock-off hammer, scissor jack and a history file that comes with the car.
Overall, the car is a very comfortable, practical classic tourer. If you have any further questions please enquire.
