Description
The 1. 6L GTI was launched in 1984, Peugeot released the first variant of the 205 GTI Powered by a 104bhp 1. 6L inline four engine and tipping the scales at less than 900kg, it could shoot from 0-62mph in 8. 7sec and had a top speed of 116mph.
During 1986 the 1. 6L version was upgraded with peak power, received the cylinder head with larger valves thus becoming XU5JA, now quoted at 115bhp.
A cabriolet version of the 205, known as the CTI, was designed and partially assembled by Pininfarina of Italy. The CTI version offered the same plastic arches and wheels as the 1. 6 GTI.
The shorter stroke 1. 6L engine is famed for being revvy and eager. The 205 is still often treated as a benchmark in group car tests of the newest GTI models or equivalent. Peugeot itself has never truly recreated this success in future GTI models.
This particular 205 CTI 1. 6L has gone thru a full body restoration and mechanical overhaul. This 205 CTI is in great overall condition from both exterior and interior, fun to drive and handles great with no issues at all. Only one thing still pending to do, the is roof lining cover that is currently ordered.
