Description
1991 Renault 19 GTS-X in Metallic grey, 111000 miles.
The car was purchased new by a gentleman in Walsall who cherished the car from day one, no expense was spared. It was passed down to his daughter and then back to her father several times before ill health took its toll in 2010 and the car then sat unused in their garage for 13 years only coming out very occasionally. Fast forward to 2023 and a friend of mine rescued the car after an appeal on Facebook from the daughter for any Renault enthusiasts to save the old girl and to make her roadworthy again. A huge Renault enthusiast stepped in and the deal was done. However, due to the amount of cars and projects he had at the time he decided it would sit around too long before he "got around to it" so i stepped in and purchased the car from him. The car has a full service (Stamped) history as well as a few old M. O. T's and invoices and is currently M. O. T'd until June 2024
The car has been fully recommissioned including full service, Oil, Plugs, front brake callipers, master cylinder with full brake fluid flush. timing belt kit, coolant flush along with a new radiator and new speedo cable was also fitted.
The interior of the car is very good considering the age and mileage. The seats are extremely comfortable with the only wear i can see being on the door cards (might just want cleaning properly)
These cars are becoming increasingly difficult to find at all, let alone in this sort of condition...
Being the run-out model for the 1991 model year (before the introduction of the facelifted 19 in 1992) the GTS-X featured such extras like colour coded bumpers with front fog lights, Sports steering wheel, Sunroof, 6 speaker stereo radio cassette and Remote central locking, all of which work without fault.
This Renault 19 car would make a ideal starter classic car to use at weekends or to take to shows. it can insured on a classic policy for less than £200 a year. It's extremely frugal being the 1. 4 energy engine (which I'm told was the best engine to have at the time) it keeps up with modern traffic and sits nicely at 70 if you want it too but I'm happier at 60 - 65 which is plenty for me.
I personally feel i have gone as far as I can with the car both with mechanical skills and financial input and it's now time to pass this on to the next owner who will hopefully take it into the next phase of it's restoration.
The bodywork although very presentable is starting to show signs of it's age. The car will be 32 years old as of November 2023 and could do with some attention. There is some minor lacquer peel here and there as well as a small patch of corrosion on the rear passenger side door. There is also a small crack in the front Windscreen (Pictured) this was there when i purchased the car and doesn't affect the M. O. T but obviously will need a replacement at some stage.
I'm sure I've probably forgot some things so if you'd like any clarification on anything please don't hesitate to get in touch.
