Description
I never thought I?d be listing my Audi Coupe GT but I?ve managed to attain my dream of having a Ur quattro and therefore this wonderful GT is available to the right home! This car has been a joy to own and I will be genuinely gutted to see it go. It is in fantastic condition and really must go to the right home. Any interested buyer, please read on!
This is a 1988 Audi Coupe GT in arguably the best spec with tornado red paintwork, smoked rear end, large bumpers with slant front and the glorious 2. 2 KV five cylinder fuel injected engine. The car has had a recent MOT with no advisories, runs and drives fantastically, has an exhaust note to die for and is in great all around condition, ready for the new owner to drive away and enjoy. It?s hard to know where to start on this car as so much has been done, the previous owner was living locally to my girlfriend in Cardiff at the time and we had spotted the car on occasion prior so when it came up for sale I just had to have it! I had spotted this car at shows prior to Steve?s ownership as well so it has been well coveted for some time. Bear with me, I?ll detail the immense work carried out on this car now!
With paperwork to back up everything from Steve 2015-2020 and myself 2020 to present and some sporadic history prior all in large folders, Steve started with purchase in Feb 2015 and had so much work carried out I?m going to have to whittle it down to the good bits? March 2015 saw a large service, brake hoses, pipes, radiator, fuel pipes, coolant, injectors, cap/ rotor arm, rear wheel bearings and clutch replacement before a replacement interior (no wear to seats, common wear point). Over the next few months the suspension all around (Sachs coils, Bilstein shocks) and 4 Pirelli tyres were fitted. Over the next few years - new top mounts, new idle control valve, new rear washer bottle/ motor, CV boots, more servicing, front wheel bearings, new alternator, aux belts, coolant pipes, thermostat, leads and plugs, engine mounts, more tyres, you get the picture? it has been well loved with a lot of money spent.
Steve most notably commissioned MC Autos to carry out a full respray and had the A pillar rust cut out and welded which has been done to a fantastic standard. The black was redone as well and the rear lights refreshed, the rear Frankani is in good order also so this car presents fantastically. Before I bought the car Steve had just had another MOT and service, stabiliser mountings, brake fluid change and various suspension components replaced. Upon seeing the sheer amount of work Steve had put into this car and after a quick viewing of the car I was already besotted and had to have it!
In my ownership I have enjoyed this car and put as much care into it as previous owners. In August 2020 a new timing belt, idler and water pump fitted and a coolant flush as the previous belt was done in 2015. I fitted new aux belts that were included with the car also. In April 2021 MOT and service, gearbox mount, tyre valves and pedal rubbers. April 2022 saw another MOT and service and most recently in September 2023 another MOT and service. I have also put the fading Audi door rings on, the rear badge overlays, the Coupe GT window stickers, the Clarion tape deck with CD changer under the passenger seat, fan switch override, full stainless exhaust from Infinity Exhausts, clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder.
So if you?re looking for a car that is ready to go, this is it! I really can?t put into words how much I?ve enjoyed it ? to start with, a dream come almost true ? I wanted a quattro but couldn?t afford it. The front wheel drive GT may not have wide arches or a turbo but it?s a much cheaper way into fun B2 five cylinder ownership. It has the soundtrack, it?s not a slouch, it turns heads, it?s a great car to turn up in at shows. The GT is quite a rare car now, certainly rarer than the quattro stablemate that has replaced it in my collection. Unfortunately with the addition of the WR I will not use the GT and it?s only fair that it finds the right home.
It still holds a garage space that I could do with having back, that said, I will not be giving this car away and I?ll be asking what I think is a very reasonable sum considering the work carried out of £8995. For this price I will include the private ?A10 VKV? registration which is meant to imitate ?A 10 valve KV?. In terms of defects there is a small bubble to the forwardmost right edge of the sunroof and a small area of chipped paint on the o/ s/ f bumper. This isn?t the most perfect GT in the world but it?s sensible money and has all the important bits done, wants for nothing else, and just wants to be driven and enjoyed. Please get in touch if interested! Now SORN and parked up in the garage so mileage not moving from just shy of 181030.
