I’ve decided to sell my beautiful Chesil Speedster. It is correctly registered as a Chesil Speedster, was a factory build by Chesil and retains historic vehicle status therefore is Tax and MOT exempt.

The Speedster is finished in unmarked Imola grey metallic coachwork with a brand new contrasting red leather interior with classic bucket seats and fully carpeted throughout. It is detailed with correct Porsche speedster lights, fittings and badges, chrome mirrors etc, and has classic instruments and switches, a Motolita steering wood rim wheel, and electric heater. It also has chrome Moon hub cap on powder coated wheels, which are painted in Imola Grey also.

The Speedster is also fitted with a brand new black soft top, and has wind up windows (rather than the rubbish ones you just hang on the doors as so many have) and also comes with a tonneau cover that really neatens the look up when the roof is down.

It is powered by a recently upgraded 1641cc air cooled VW engine built by "Steve Strong", the spec of which includes "Eagle Cam" twin carbs and performance inlet manifold, electronic ignition and flame thrower coil. It's never ever let me down, and gets used constantly, not just on high days and Sundays. In fact, it's proven itself to be considerably more reliable than our modern Porsche.

The car also has a 4 speed manual gear box supplied by VW Heritage with quick shifter, IRS suspension, and front disc brakes. It also has an excellent build history (about 6 inches of receipts), including photos and an extensive magazine feature (a copy of the magazine is included in the sale).

I’ve owned the car for over 3 years and it’s easily the greatest and most joyous thing I’ve owned, and during that time I've been lucky enough to own all sorts of lovely things that should by rights be much better than the Speedster, but just aren't somehow. There's just something about this little car that generates appreciation and love from everyone everywhere. I’m only selling as we’re making some changes at home due to ill health. The car is absolutely immaculate.

The car currently has the bumpers removed for the outlaw look, but the could easily be reinstalled (I've included some pictures of the car when the bumpers were fitted), and are obviously included in the sale. I'll happily pop them back on for you if you like. It's only a few mins work. Obviously I only ever put the surf board in there for the pictures. I’m 50 and far too useless to surf.

The car is located near Norwich and I'm looking for £34, 500- which is about the going price for an average condition one of these, and mine is utterly perfect, so in that and every other regard it's a bargain. However, if you can name anything even close to as much as fun, or is that anywhere near as beautiful and elegant as this for the money, I'll happily admit I'm wrong.

No part-ex’s, thank you.

The car is absolutely immaculate, and commands appreciation wherever you go.
