Description
Winner of PistonHeads best hot hatch of the last 25 years and receiving critical acclaim from every corner of the automotive industry. The GR Yaris needs no introduction. A car that has truly lived up to the hype and earned its homologation stripes.
This is a 2023 Toyota GR Yaris Circuit Pack in the best available colour, Platinum White Pearl. It was delivered to Park's Toyota Inverness and registered on the 20/ 01/ 2023. I am the first and only owner.
After taking delivery I immediately booked it in with Alan Medcraf (well known from AMDetails) to have some PPF and ceramic coatings applied to the vehicle at the Spotless Detailing branch in Elgin, Scotland. The car was with them from the 20/ 02/ 23 until the 24/ 02/ 23 with the following work being undertaken:
Gtechniq new car detail and single stage correction
Xpel Ultimate Plus PPF applied to:
Bonnet
Front bumper including all gloss black parts/ areas
Front arches/ wings
Mirrors
Headlights
Side sills and lower door
Rear quarters
Door cups
Boot strip
The whole car has then had Gtechniq CSL applied along with C5 coating on all the wheels & brakes, G1 on the glass and a full engine detail. Gtechniq Exo V4 has then been applied on top of everything. As you can imagine this has made for a perfect car with all the key areas protected whilst making the wash process as simple as possible for years to come. The Xpel PPF has a 10 year comprehensive warranty as well as a 5 year guarantee on the Gtechniq coatings. The cost of this was in excess of £2, 800. The Spotless Detailing team really provided a top service. Where possible they have extended the PPF onto the underside or the back of the panels, such as the bonnet, so that there is added protection and that there is no visible end to the PPF material. In addition to this they have also added sacrificial layers of PPF to high impact areas like the front arches. This means that if these areas become damaged over time, a small strip of PPF on top can be removed and replaced easily and cheaply whilst not harming the underlying PPF layer.
The car has been kept in a garage on a CTEK battery conditioner and so far has only been driven on dry days. Unfortunately these dry days have been few and far between this spring/ summer and as such I've only racked up a total of 445 miles. Toyota's recommended run in period is 621 miles/ 1, 000 KM which the car is still someway short of and as such it's not been abused or thrashed on track or road. I've paid particular attention to the owners manual with the break in procedure and avoided lugging the engine, cruising at continuous speed or sudden accelerations before the magical 621 miles mark. Having said that, I have not 'babied' the car as this could be equally as detrimental. It is my hope that this will give the car the best possible chance of longevity compared to others. Of course, there is a warranty which is extendable up to 10 years which gives you peace of mind.
In line with Toyota's GR servicing, the car has had its 6 month GR safety check on the 29/ 06/ 2023 at Alexander Wallace Toyota Elgin. Alongside this, it has also had some warranty work completed on the brakes for a common issue that is well documented on the forums. So much so it has now become a Toyota technical service bulletin. A small part of the brake pad delaminated/ detached from the rest of the pad and hence just needed replacing. Toyota have gone over and above and all 4 corners have had brand new discs and pads fitted at 412 miles.
The first proper service is not due until 6, 000 miles or 12 months which would be end of January 2024. The first MOT is not due until 19/ 01/ 2026. As mentioned above, there is a 3 year Toyota warranty but this is extended by 1 year each time it is serviced at a dealer up to a maximum of 10 years.
The car is as close to perfect mechanically and aesthetically and is now ready to be enjoyed by the next owner.
