The Porsche Type 993, formerly the simple 993, was the version of the 911 produced by Porsche from the end of 1993 to the beginning of 1998, updating the 964. The end of its production marked the end of Porsche's refrigerated models, creating a special place in the minds and hearts of enthusiasts.
One of the most notable changes in the 993 over all previous 911's was the implementation of the live alloy multi-link rear suspension linked to a live alloy sub-body.

The 993 was the first generation of the 911 to have a 6-speed gearbox.
