1981 Citroen CX 2400cc Injection Automatic
In Sable dore or gold metallic with light brown leather interior, with all the features you would expect from the Pallas model.
Electric windows, self centring DIRAVI power steering which weights up with increasing vehicle speed. Electric mirrors.
Fitted with remote central locking, just so I don't need to use the key in the door each time.
The body and interior are in good condition, there are no dents or scratches and the chrome trim is in very good order, as are the chrome hub caps, Underneath the car is solid without rust and has been undersealed.
Mechanically, the car is in good order too, the front, rear and accumulator spheres were replaced a year ago. The hydraulic system was drained, the reservoir and internal filters cleaned and refilled with new fluid recently.
The CX has been totally reliable in my ownership and I have covered thousands of miles since last year. It is used a few days a week so the mileage will increase slowly since uploading this advert. Much of the wiring has been reworked in the past plus I have replaced any wiring, connectors and relays to ensure that everything functions as it should.
I was informed when I purchased the car that it had been involved in an accident previously and this is shown on the log book. It didn't really bother me as the car was 41 years old and was bound to have had the odd knock here and there over the years. In the extensive history file dating back to 1995, there are invoices and bills from mid 2014 showing a number of parts and work undertaken where it looks like CX had a major restoration, probably at the time of the accident. The cost of parts and labour are well in excess of what the car would have been worth in 2014, so clearly the owner at the time cherished the car and wanted to have it back on the road again. Subsequent MOT history and servicing bills show the car was in regular use since then.
I have always liked the Citroen CX since a child and over the years have been lucky enough to have owned several other Citroen hydraulic models. Regrettably due to a change in my work I now have to commute 38 miles a day and much of it is sat in morning traffic. Although I am averaging around 25 mpg in total comfort, the thought of using and spoiling the car in the rain, snow and ice on dark country roads over the winter months, is something I would prefer not to be doing on a regular basis, so this is why I have decided to sell.
The car is Tax and MOT except and I think it can registered for ULEZ exemption too being an historic vehicle. So if you are looking for a traditional quirky 1980's Citroen that is stylish and totally reliable whenever you want to jump in and waft along at a leisurely pace this may be the car for you. The automatic ZF gearbox shifts smoothly and makes the car very easy to drive.
