£15, 000. Offers - please call.
Ultra rare, ‘Project Jay’, G-WAC 1989 Land Rover Discovery 200Tdi – G524 WAC (SDV 55). One of the 86 Press Release or Launch Fleet Discoverys, used by Land Rover, to introduce the model to the world in the Autumn of 1989. Only 43 of these vehicles were released by Land Rover following the launch and of these, only 22 are known to still exist. Rarely do any G-WACs ever come to the market, this then is an opportunity to purchase a genuine piece of Land Rover history. For those not aware of the significance of the G-WAC registration, Google G-WAC Discovery or Project Jay Preservation Group. In late 1989, G524 was given by Land Rover to Yorkshire Television, on loan as a product placement vehicle, for use in the long running soap ‘Emmerdale Farm’. Here it was part of the ‘Tate’ families vehicle fleet and was seen in many episodes of this period, often being driven by the characters ‘Frank Tate’ or ‘Kim Tate’. See YouTube - VOT7mla190k - G524 can be seen at 0:06 of the video, sat outside ‘Home Farm’ and again at 12:57 being driven down the drive, pulling up outside ‘Home Farm’. G524 WAC is finished in Marseilles Blue, with the now iconic Conran Design Group styled, Sonar Blue interior, and is powered by the ground breaking ‘Gemini’ 2495cc, 200Tdi, turbo diesel direct injection engine. While the vehicle runs and drives, it is in need of some restoration and recommissioning, having being laid up in dry storage for many years.
