Description
Rare Mercedes Classic 1957 W105 219 Ponton survivor for sale.
Please note, this is a reluctant sale. If my reserve is not met I will keep the vehicle. This vehicle deserves to go to a good home and be restored. This vehicle was purchased to be restored, but due to unforseen unfortunate family circumstances I am no longer able to complete this project.
The vehicle is a survivor and has mostly original features. Work on the interior has already commenced, and does cause the vehicle to present in a rough condition. A previous owner attempted to present the vehicle as another model through the poor and shabby installation of 220 dash facia and the correction of this is generating some of the rough cosmetic looks, as is the dilapidated headlining. There is evidences of rust, but replacement parts have been identified at Niemoeller of Germany and other classic mercedes parts dealers. The vehicle does run and drive, but was not on the road for several years before I purchsed it. I have driven the vehicle locally and the gearbox shifts and there are no strange noises and the brakes work. The exhaust fitted is not OEM or an OEM replacement and rattles on the chassis at low revs. Must be recommissioned before any proper road use is considered and it will need to be trailered or A/ framed away.
