1935 Armstrong Siddeley Long 20 Laudaulette

Here we have our very rare and beautiful 1935 Armstrong Siddeley Long 20 Landaulette in fantastic condition. She is an absolute head turner and most people think it’s a Rolls. She had a full nut and bolt restoration in the early 90’s and shows her patina well.
This was my late father's car and is very well known within the Midlands Classic Car Scene, up until his passing. It has won many best in class in the local events. We are the 3rd owners and the history can be seen in one of the pictures.
It's a proper limousine with a sliding glass partition. Leather in the front for the driver and material luxury in the rear. It's classic 1930s opulence, still having its blinds for privacy and adjustable rear seats. Being a landaulette you can drop the rear part of the roof and the passengers can enjoy the sun whilst being wafted along in comfort and luxury. The amount of people who wave at you is incredible!
She drives great with the brand-new rebuilt pre-select gearbox. We have the video of the gearbox on the dyno having been rebuilt earlier this year at a cost of £13k !! She will keep up with traffic easily and will cruise at 65mph on the A road or motorway!
It's a great wedding car if you want to use it for that and my dad used to do them for friends and family. It was his pride and joy and its been in the family for 14 years now.
During our ownership, we have taken care of the majority of the items which you would expect to need attention
- Electrically Rewired
- Electronic Ignition
- Converted to unleaded, with new valves, hardened valve seats, head skimmed and new head gasket
- Majority of the chrome re-chromed
- Hand-made new radiator core in 2021 - £2. 5k
- Total gearbox rebuild with new hand-cut bronze gears and needle rollers replacing the bushes. Done by GW Autos in 2023 - £13k
- New glass all round
- New tyres & Battery
- Reconditioned Luvax Shock Absorbers
- Recovered running boards - need redoing
- New colour-matching enamel wheel centres.

The odometer is showing 71'337 and the car shows all the signs that this is genuine. As you can see she is simply stunning but needs to find her next owner. We simply do not use it enough, with me having a young family, the car needs regular use and to be enjoyed.

It could be made into a concourse inch perfect car if you wanted, but as she stands she is a well-loved beautiful 88-year-old. If you are after a head turning car which needs some small little work for your hobby then this is the one.
There is a small rip in the top of the hood on the near side which can be repaired by someone who knows what they are doing.
The interior is original with fabric luxury in the rear and head wearing leather for the driver. Both of which are showing their patina. The rear could do with being professionally shampooed and the leather front seats could probably do with recolouring. We did this 10 years ago. It worked great but it needs to be done again. It also needs a new horn as the existing one decided to short out.
The brakes also could use a service. It sat for over a year whilst the gearbox was rebuilt and the front brakes need adjusting. Nothing major. The rear axel also needs adjusting. It all got checked when the gearbox was rebuild and reinstalled. But last time out she has moved slightly and its got a whine. Its literally half a day for someone to slacken in off and retighten.
In addition to this is the fantastic number plate of BYE 280. It is transferable and we have had it valued at £5k, but it will come with the car.
This has been difficult reaching this point where we have decided to put her up for sale. We would love her to go to someone who will cherish her as much as we have and show her off.
She is a lot of car for the money, and we have dropped it by £15k as it needs to find its new owner. If you research Armstrong Siddeley you will see that they were outstanding quality cars, and competing with the very best. If this was a Rolls or Bentley, which it was competing with, then it would easily be a 6 figure car!
