Description
Mercedes Benz W124 320TE 4speed automatic. Japanese import in 2016 for me through New Era Imports, I chose them as they are credited with supplying the best examples of this model. The 124 was manufactured in Mercedes Golden era and this one certainly proves it. Finished in 199 which is Blue/ Black but in most lights looks very dark metallic green, you will also notice that the lower body panels are painted in gloss body colour as an option from new, which makes it stand out from the semi matt finish more often seen.
The car has great specification including full grey leather interior including 7 seats with belts, heated and electric front seats, tilt and slide sunroof(working), illuminated vanity mirrors, electrically adjustable steering column, cruise control, air conditioning, extremely rare(factory option) bass speakers to both front doors powered by rear upgraded amplifier, speakers to rear doors, period looking Blaupunkt Bluetooth head unit, headlight wash wipe, factory removable tow bar, USB and power socket in centre console( so you don’t always have the ashtray open). Outside temperature gauge.
The car came with slightly lowered springs and has had 500e anti roll bars fitted. 4 x keys
Wheels have been refurbished, I chose not to have the diamond cut redone as I actually prefer this finish, still could be done. All balancing invisible. Matching set of Pirelli tyres.
All the 124 headaches have been dealt with. Replacement engine bay wiring loom, new head gasket, rear estate windows removed and sealer replaced, duo valve overhauled, tailgate wiring renewed, brass fuse conversion, ignition barrel replaced (genuine, that way you keep the one key!), rear subframe waxoyled(plus rest of vehicle).
Lots of history in Japanese! Since then it has been extremely well maintained with a recent service (MB parts) and just had new front pads as they were low. Bosch battery.
Odometer is in kilometres but a replacement dial fitted showing MPH.
Comes with full set of floor mats including rear transmission tunnel mat, rubber mat to load area, genuine MB roof bars with 2 keys, fitted cover and a selection of spares, touch up paint for seats and body, Haynes manual and a W124 bible (excellent publication), original grille( I just like the other one). Always garaged.

N. B. Number plate not included in sale. Car drives without fault and everything works. This car has been a joy to own and has been the best Mercedes I have the pleasure to drive. I owned a 124 when it was nearly new and was thoroughly impressed, however the later cars failed to live up to this standard and I bought this one after a succession of newer MBs that I had become dissatisfied with.
The estate version has to be one of the most versatile cars around with its load carrying capacity but all the while driving like a luxury car. More than capable of keeping up with modern traffic with plenty of compliments like “ They don’t make then like that anymore”.
Stored undercover in a heated garage and not used at all in winter or bad weather.
The fact that this car has been in the UK for eight years and has had all the expensive 124 niggles dealt with makes it an ideal choice.
At just over 100k this would be considered low mileage for this model and age, plenty of life left as a daily driver or treasured classic.
