Description
Great example of this iconic and very pretty looking vehicle.
Although 75% of these vehicles were produced for the US, this car has been confirmed by both Fiat's 'Centro Archivio Storico' and Pininfarina's Vehicle Planning Department in Italy as being manufactured in July 1972 to European specification. Hence it has an original 1608cc 4 cylinder twin OHC engine and twin dual choke IDF 40 Weber carburettors.
The number of owners prior to it's import into UK is unclear but it is documented that in 2001 the vehicle was registered in Prague, Czechoslovakia, to an employee of Skoda who worked in the design department and he reported that he carried out major body and trim restoration work with the help of Skoda craftsmen and their suppliers.
In 2004 the Czech auto designer came to UK to join a major UK auto manufacturer and brought the car with him as an official import claiming that its Tom Tjarda styling gave him inspiration!
The car subsequently had 2 further UK owners before being sold to a 3rd in circa 2011 who spent approx £7000 on various engine and body work. (Receipts and records available including a valuation note from a specialist Fiat/ Abarth garage for £13000).
The current owner purchased the car in May 2013 and since then has only used it for fun weekend driving in dry summer months.
Since 2013 the vehicle has had new brake wheel cylinders and pads, engine top end overhaul with new valves etc, new Weber IDF 40 carburettors (original ones still kept) plus all the necessary oil and filter changes.
Although the mileage on the current MPH odometer reads 04658 miles the original KMH odometer reads 98731 kilometres (about 62, 000 miles) and is available to see and take with the car.
All in all a lovely and lively little car ideal for enjoying fun summer days with the top down. Also cheap to own being tax and MOT exempt.
