A project car, and a wonderful example of the rare British-built sports car
Under the bonnet sits the original 1. 6-litre Ford ‘crossflow’ engine, delivering around 100hp to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox.
The car weighs approximately 700kg.

First introduced in 1964, the Marcos GT featured fibreglass bodywork as well as an unusual Frank Costin-designed plywood monocoque chassis, and was introduced as an interesting alternative to the vehicles offered by the marque’s competitors, such as Lotus.
This 1600 GT needs a fully restoration and respraye as well
Inside, the cabin has been the original in red vinyl, the original dashboard, steering wheel and Smiths gauges.

It will be accompanied by a history file, period photographs, and the original bill of sale, and a few service invoices.

Launched in Britain by Marcos Engineering in 1964, the 1600 GT is a rare and compact sports car created with a number of lightweight components including a fibreglass body and an unusual plywood chassis. The Marcos 1600 GT has power throughout the rev range and renowned for its handling, and it is a characterful weekend toy, as well as an interesting addition to any collection of British classics. The GT was produced by Marcos Engineering in Britain and offered intermittently between 1964 and 1990. The car featured a fiberglass body over a monocoque chassis incorporating nearly 400 pieces of plywood, with a resulting curb weight of approximately 1, 800 pounds
