One-off Ducati 980ss
This Ducati started life as a 900s. Then in 2001 the first owner (I’m 3rd) commissioned a custom make over at the cost of £8216 by Performance House. This work created a stand alone machine with hints to Mike Hailwood’s TT winning bike and also the new 999 model being released on the market back then with a twin head light.
I purchased the bike in 2011 (private sale) and all mechanical work on it has been by professional garages inc new clutch nest and plates, new Brembo discs, new iron nitride battery, new starter motor, new regulator and new rectifier (details/ history available). New belts are due in November along with the MOT.
The ride is focused and a joy with very little concession to modern additions eg no ABS traction control. This is motor cycling at its purest level, requiring handling and rider skill. It’s given me nothing but a big smile every time I have ridden it!
This bike is a real individual, even amongst Ducati riders. People are always curious about its origin and history.
