Here is a truly special XJS in its original Westminster blue and Dove grey interior. After importing it from Japan 17 years ago, I have enjoyed servicing it myself and driving it. It is totally rust-free and has been garaged all the time in my ownership. The work that has been done to this V12 puts it above most others.
It has had the head gaskets replaced along with a valve grind. Upgrades include a electric radiator fan that looks factory fitted (no more blown head gaskets). ECU upgrade by AJ6 engineering. Changed the gearbox from a GM 400 3-speed to a fully overhauled, 4-speed overdrive GM 700R4 and new 3. 4:1 differential. This changes the the engine from doing 2, 500 revs at 100kmh to 1, 800 revs giving a huge economy gain and with more acceleration off the mark (this modification has a NZ MOT certificate of compliance). These upgrades make this a truly enjoyable car to drive. Being a former motor mechanic if I have seen it, I have serviced it e. g. (Auxiliary air valve, starter motor overhaul, rear shocks, fuel tank clean and new fuel pump, radiator clean and new overflow tank) to make it a reliable car for years to come.
I have always loved the XJS for its beautiful lines and the big V12 engine. I bought this car for its totally rust free body and its lovely Westminster blue colour. It is always admired by car enthusiasts and passers-by. I love driving it on our country roads with the top down in the late afternoon. The servicing and gearbox modifications make it so enjoyable and reliable to drive. It has a real spring in its step, with fuel economy that brings it into the 21st century.
Having had the head gaskets done puts this car above others as it is expensive to do and would be the first question I would ask when buying.
I believe the next owner will have a great car that they won't have to spend money maintaining, but rather enjoy it appreciating in value.
