The performance is very smooth and refined yet exhilarating too. The upgraded Miltek sports exhaust on this XK8 adds to the enjoyment of that glorious V8 burble under the long, sleek bonnet.
The cherished number fitted by the second owner (who purchased the car from Jaguar with only 150 miles) comes included with the car - this only adds to the distinctive and timeless look of this XK8. Any fans of Rio (either the place or the Duran Duran track!) will also appreciate this plate, as will fans of Rioja wine (if you squint!)

The Platinum Silver metallic finish has a deep shine. The luxurious Dove grey leather interior is immaculate and the classic burr walnut dash exudes sophistication and grandeur. The unmarked wood and leather steering wheel is a joy to behold. The purposeful looking 19 inch Apollo alloys really suit the shape of the XK8 and give the car a very sporty look.

While the looks are classic, the specification is very modern with 12 way electric seats, ice cold climate controlled air conditioning (replaced by renowned Jaguar specialist Knowles Wilkins in 2019), a superb original Jaguar sound system with 6 CD autochanger, parking sensors and cruise control.
The electric hood works perfectly, gracefully lowering and raising the hood at the touch of a button within a few minutes. There's even a wind deflector fitted. Ideal for both country lanes and city roads, the XK8 is always a pleasure to drive and to be seen in.

THE HISTORY FOLDER:

First registered on 31st December 2003, this is a 2004 Model, as confirmed from the Jaguar build sheet

Originally Supplied by Stratstone/ Avalon Jaguar Wolverhampton to Jaguar Cars themselves

The car was then purchased from Jaguar when 6 months old with only 150 miles on the clock by a wealthy car enthusiast accountant

This owner added the cherished plate (this plate is included within the price of the car) and kept the car for nearly 10 years and 44000 miles

Every service carried out during his ownership was performed by a Jaguar main dealer, as were the first 5 MoTs!

The third owner was the Jaguar main dealer, Sturgess Jaguar, that was so impressed with the car they sold it through the Jaguar Approved Used Cars scheme when over 10 years old in 2014. How many XK8s were being sold when 11 years old at Jaguar main dealers? Very, very few, only the very best examples that Jaguar main dealers were confident enough to sell at that age.

4 new window trims were fitted at a cost of £653, I believes both front headlamps were replaced at this time and they both retain a showroom-fresh look.

The car retains both its front and rear Sturgess Jaguar number plates, rear window sticker and key fob from when Sturgess Jaguar supplied the car in 2014.

The fourth owner enjoyed the car for 2 years and 9 months, during his ownership the gearbox and torque convertor was replaced at a cost of £3188 (less than 9000 miles ago)

This owner also added a STAINLESS-STEEL Miltek sports exhaust, K & N air filter, new brake hoses and new anti-roll bar bushes - this cost £2614 just over 9000 miles ago

The fifth owner purchased the car from a classic car dealer in 2017 just 3000 miles ago at a cost of £17500 (the sales receipt is present in the history folder)

He went on to spend over £7500 on the car, mainly at the renowned Knowles Wilkins Jaguar specialist

In 2019, less than 3000 miles ago, Knowles Wilkins replaced the floor pans with specifically made new panels, as well as replacing the rear subframe mounting points, replacing the front suspension point, re-undersealing the sill ends, wheel arches and floor pans

Cavity wax injection was performed for further rust-proofing

The front upper wishbone bushes, air conditioning condensor radiator, and receiver drier were replaced

The air conditioning was also re-gassed so it now blows absolutely ice cold

The V subframe mounts, front damper bushes and lower ball joint gaitor were also replaced

The steering rack mounting bolts were also replaced

All the above work in 2019 cost over £6000

Comes with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate

HPi and V Check Clear

Every single handbook & booklet that came with the car when new remains with the car

All 4 tyres are the recommended Uniroyal Sports and all 4 have at least 7mm remaining

The car stands the previous owner who bought the car 3000 miles ago at £25, 000 including purchase and repairs. It is now available for little more than half this sum.

INTERIOR:

Superbly presented cabin, the Dove Grey leather and Classic Burr Walnut interior are in exceptional condition

The leather and wood steering wheel is unmarked

All the switches and controls are totally unmarked

The carpets are in excellent condition, protected by the original front overmats which are still present

An Admesh Wind deflector has been fitted and the original light grey tonneau cover is in pristine condition

The original locking wheel nut is stored in a specially made cloth bag in the glovebox

An auxiliary socket and wiring has been fitted so an aftermarket sat nav unit can be plugged in

THE EXTERIOR:

As you can see from the photos, the distinctive Platinum Silver remains in exceptional condition for its age

The original radio aerial works perfectly, raising all the way and lowering all the way perfectly

The soft top remains in excellent overall condition

All in all, the car remains in truly exceptional condition for its age - it is hard to believe that this is an over twenty year old Jaguar.

THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE:

The 4. 2 V8 engine sounds amazing, especially with the throaty Miltek exhaust that is most audible when first starting the car. This sports exhaust is barely noticeable once on the move though.
Given that so many suspension components including the bushes have been replaced it is no surprise that the there are no knocks or bangs from the suspension

The gearbox is also very smooth, changes on the move are imperceptible and it silkily switches between drive, reverse and park in the same manner as when new.

IN SUMMARY:

This is a lovely example - it would be nigh on impossible to find another one that has had so much money spent on it.

I have a background in motoring journalism (previously working for the same car magazine as James May in the 1990s) and the motor trade, starting a retail showroom at ex-main dealer premises straight after I graduated at uni.

I originally purchased this XK8 for resale but kept delaying advertising it as deep down, I knew I'd never find such a nice one again! So I kept it, intending to use it as my own personal car from this Summer. I was hoping to take it to car shows around the country with my father. Unfortunately, my father passed away prematurely and totally unexpectedly at the start of this year - I have now lost my lifelong interest in cars and my main focus now is sorting out the aftermath of this unexpected loss. This, together with my own declining health, has led to me deciding to come out of the retail motor trade and to sell the XK8. Given I am no longer in the retail motor trade, this XK8 is therefore effectively being offered on private sale terms. This is reflected in the price - a couple of slightly lower mileage examples with around 40k - 45k are advertised at £18k - £22k.

Any inspection is welcome, I owned a relatively new XK8 as my personal daily car back in 2005 and this car is in similar condition to the one I owned nearly 20 years ago.

Genuine enquiries only please and please note my insurance company requires a copy of any test driver's driving licence prior to the test drive.

Viewing strictly by appointment only.

PAYMENT AND TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

I can only accept payment by bank transfer (CHAPS or Faster Payment) cleared into my bank account before releasing the car or any documentation.

Please note I suggest that the buyer makes an initial payment of £100 followed by the balance, this sets me up as a previous payee whereas paying the full balance in the first transaction often causes a delay as the buyer's bank flags up and holds a large payment amount sent to a new payee.

Please note I cannot offer a delivery service, I prefer all prospective buyers to come and view the car to make sure they are totally happy with the car, I will not enter into a distance selling regulations sale.
