Velocette Venom Clubman/ Café Racer
500cc Velocette Venom in Thruxton café racer style.
Built to a high specification with 1954 frame and 1958 engine (Alfin barrel with no broken fins on the engine)
Previous owner had the engine rebuilt by Nick Payton, but I don’t have documentary evidence, it remains sounding perfect mechanically.
Gearbox and clutch are good (1 down and 3 up)
Tank shop aluminium tank in Thruxton style, no dents, dings or corrosion worries)
AJS 7R seat which suits the frame and tank contours very nicely.
Alton electric starter which is the later revised model, also fitted with the revised larger flanged pinion recommended by VOC members.
High capacity Motobatt battery encased in period Lucas battery box.
Mikuni carburettor supplied by Allens.
Borrani alloy rims with stainless steel spokes.
Twin leading front brake.
Alloy rear hub.(Dodkin ?)
Stainless steel mudguards.
BTH Magneto.
Geoff Dodkin steering yoke.
Exhaust and silencer in excellent condition. (standard exhaust pipe rather than swept back to keep heat away from starter motor)
Centre stand and prop stand fitted.
Frame enamel, paintwork and chrome all cosmetically very good.
Very easy to start with the combination of Electric starter and Mikuni carburettor. I can’t quote the state of tune of the engine, however, it is at least comparable to a MkII Clubman I owned.
Owner for several years with V5C in my name. First registered January 1954 with 2 previous owners. Historic registration and free of road tax and MoT requirements.
Somewhat different to a common Triton, a light and low café racer with modern conveniences fitted.
