This immaculate, low-mileage, manual 2001 520i SE is a beautiful example of what is fast becoming a future classic in the E39 5 Series, regarded by many as one of the best BMWs ever made.
The bodywork is in remarkably good condition for a car of its age, with no dings or dents.
Mechanically the car is sound - the car drives and rides as expected from a 5 Series i. e. like a luxury cruiser. Clutch and gearbox are smooth and will do many more miles. The engine revs freely and happily and helps the car feel alive and sprightly despite its age. The car also benefits from a K&N air filter fitted by a previous owner.
Since owning, the car has been well looked after and work done includes a new near side brake caliper and new rear brake pads back in December.
New front calipers replaced by previous owner as well as new tyres all round including Nankang tyres at the front.
All this adds up to a healthy and well-maintained car, which has had no advisories in the last four years and MOT until December 2024.
Service history including stamps and receipts from previous owners - full receipts from my ownership.
Also no pixel degradation in the instrument cluster or climate control screen - a common problem in BMWs of this age.
The car also has an aftermarket stereo fitted allowing bluetooth playback and wired playback and charging to provide a little of the convenience of a more modern car.
Only 2000 miles covered in the last three years so the car has been treasured by its owners and not driven into the ground. In the last 2000 miles, the car has received: new rear pads, front discs, 4 tyres, new calipers, vanos seal kit, oil service and camshaft. Since owning I have spent around £600 which also included fixing a seatbelt sensor and a few of the rear lights.
