1978 Ford Cortina Mark 4

Immaculate - Probably the very best Cortina MK IV in the country.

stunning body in Roman Bronze with no scratches, chips or blemishes. Unmarked light tan interior with carpets and seats in excellent condition and the head lining is perfect. Underneath the car is completely solid and the engine bay is in stunning condition.

This Cortina has obviously been cherished all its life and has had the work necessary to present it in such incredible condition.
First registered in May 1978 by Dinnages Ford (Original sticker in rear window) of Haywards Heath who kept it as a demonstrator for its 1st year. The 2nd owner kept it for 24 years selling in May 2003 with 34, 364 miles on the clock. The magazine ad for this sale comes with the car. The 3rd owner, Joe McShera bought it and used it little having it SORN from Nov 2006 to Nov 2012. The 4th owner, of Rossendale, Lancs. bought it in 2013 with 35, 419 showing and added 12, 000 miles before trading it in at West Coast Classics, Stirlingshire in 2018 against a Porsche. Reverend Doug Roberts then bought the car in 2019 and it headed to inverness. Doug had extensive engine work carried out (receipt for £1700) and had the wheels stripped and restored. Under Doug's ownership it won awards starting in 2019 with a 2nd at the Tain Classic Car Show (Scottish Vintage Vehicle Federation Concours qualifier assessed by SVVC Concours judges). It then won its class at the Historic Wheels Rally at Brodie Castle. After Covid a first at both Brodie Castle and Tain and a close 2nd at the Grampian Motor Museum All Ford Day, against entries from all over the UK. In 2023 it was an invited entry to the SVVC national champion of champions event.
DVLA records confirm this is only 1 of 3 1978 Cortina Ghia Automatics left and one of 9 MK IV 2. 0 Ghia's and must be one of if not the most original and the best.
After Doug I am only the 6th owner. I purchased the car from South Norfolk Classics in August last year with a fresh no advisories MOT and I have put 140 miles on. The car now shows 50, 369 miles. It was an impulse buy as it was only 3 miles from where I live and I was bought up with Cortinas and a 1. 6GL was my first ever car back in 1989. I always wanted another again. Now I have scratched that itch I realise it will spend its life in my garage where it lives in a Carcoon on trickle charge and as much as I love just looking at her, she deserves to get out to shows and be seen and enjoyed and I need the space to concentrate on my other cars.
Complete with original tools, brochures, manuals and even a period Motorcraft spare bulb kit.
