First registered to the Secretary for State at the Home Office. Then 2 other government departments until 1965. Then we think 2 owners prior to me in 1985. I've had the vehicle stripped back to the chassis, which has been treated, the original bulkhead repaired and treated, the engine went to Cox and Turner and was completely overhauled and reconditioned. The gearbox went to a specialist in Bristol. The tyres and springs are new and also the fuel tank has been replaced. The bodywork has been prepared and repainted by a local body repair specialist, panel by panel, and then we assembled it accordingly. Many many hours have been spent on this restoration with very pleasing results.
This series 1 has had quite a privileged life. The first years spent in Government departments and then spending almost the last 40 years here, giving us all lots of pleasure but never having to work very hard. I was hoping to be able to enjoy this Series 1 for many more years, hence the restoration but unfortunately this isn't now possible because of family issues and commitments.
