Description

Selling my Nissan Micra (K10) from 1989. This car is a genuine low mileage survivor that was purchased as a project car. After tidying up a few issues and making sure it was mechanically sorted, it’s time to move it on to make space for a house purchase. I’ve been honest in the details below, but have to say it’s quite a nice example considering its age and how cheaply they were built in their day.
The Good:
• Low mileage (26, 131)
• Everything works, hard as that may be to believe. The engine runs well, it starts very easily and the gearbox functions as well as it ever did.
• The automatic choke works surprisingly well.
• Clean carvertical/ equivalent report
• Fresh MOT (will do by the time it is sold)
• Recently serviced & maintained very well with the following done within the last 1000 miles, oil, filter, fuel filter, coolant flush, cambelt changed, brake fluid flushed, spark plugs replaced, valve clearances adjusted, exhaust rear section replaced with leak fixed and rubber hangers replaced.
• Previous owner replaced interior with much cleaner and hardly worn example.
• Sills have been welded and there is no structural rust underneath the car.
• Included in the sale is a very hard to find spare fuel level sensor/ sender unit alongside the obligatory Haynes Manual.
• I’ll also include a fitted car cover if needed.

The Bad:
• We purchased the car with no documentation whatsoever, save for a few MOT certificates in the glovebox. This is why I did such a substantial service in our ownership. I can provide evidence of the work I have done, but it is not being sold with a FSH.
• There are small patches and spots of cosmetic rust dotted around the car.
• There appears to have been an attempt, no doubt in the 90’s, to steal the car and as such the left passenger door has been bent. It has been bent back into shape but some paint flaking has occurred.
• The wheels need to be repainted.

The Ugly:
• Paint damage to the bonnet
• Paint flaking and rust on the scuttle panel on the passenger side (see pictures)
• Rust has rotted out some of the area in the engine bay below the scuttle panel too, this has been treated with rust converter and has not gotten any worse. I keep the car garaged/ under a cover to keep it dry.
• The bootlid has been replaced and resprayed to a mediocre quality. The lacquer is peeling in places and the window seal has been repaired (bodged) to keep it watertight. It doesn’t leak, and it fits fine, but doesn’t look great. It's a remarkably reliable, genuine low mileage survivor from an era now gone. To quote Smith and Sniff, Find another!
