This beautiful 1961, 23 window split-screen delux samba (the rarest and most desirable of all VW Classic Campers - even more than the more recent 21 window version),
"Carmen" until recently has been used the perfect addition to any wedding.
She is a genuine “samba” and as such there is a “certificate of authenticity”
These models in recent years have sold for hundreds of thousands of GBP
Carmen was born in Germany and was exported to the Sudan as a factory built right hand drive vehicle.
When she was found by her previous owner she had bullet holes in her side and a secret hidden compartment in the back.
It is likely that she was used as a war ambulance, the secret compartment was probably used to hide important medications if she was hijacked.
Carmen was imported into the UK in 2014 where she was stripped down to bare metal at Envirostrip in Tamworth whilst being lovingly restored by IRVS restorations. She was then rebuilt from the bottom up, both inside and outside to her current jaw dropping condition.
This is the rarest and most sought out of all the VW Campervans, originally designed for Alpine trips where "everybody wherever they sit, can always see out of a window"
There are 2 side doors that open outwards and soft leather seats. There are safari windows that open at the front and all the windows along the side open too. There is also a 6' long "Paris Sunroof".
Being sold with an MOT even though this is an historic vehicle and she doesn’t need one.
Carmen is certainly a head turner and a beautiful vehicle to own.
