History: Cadillac gave Pininfarina a shed load of money to build a new factory for the Allante. When completed, 56 at a time were loaded onto a cargo Boeing 747 and flown to Detroit to have the engine and autobox fitted. Unsurprisingly, this put $6000 on each car, making it Cadillac's most expensive car of the day. In fact, you could buy two Cadillac Savilles for the price of an Allante.
The car was so well appointed, the only optional extra was a Motorola car phone. I have one included with the sale, although that network disappeared years ago, it looks great at a car show
