Celebrating their 60th anniversary this year first generation factory A code Mustangs are the collector’s car of choice and being an early GT, this example with its four-speed manual transmission has an extra level of desirability. The GT was introduced in April 1965 as an ‘Equipment Group’ package with up-rated 225bhp 289 cu’ in’ V8 power plant, four-barrel carburettor, front disc brakes and special handling set up of stiffer springs and shock absorbers, plus front anti-roll bar, quick ratio steering, chrome exhaust trumpets, lower body stripes, GT emblems, branded fuel cap and grille-mounted fog-lamps. All the GT credentials are correct for a factory-built car including all the more hidden-away modifications
The Mustang GT drives well with plenty of power from the fresh A code V8 motor with smooth transitions through the four-speed manual transmission via a Hurst shifter.
