Royal Ivory with Yarwood Old Red leather interior. Reliable Ford 1800 Zetec engine and 5 speed gearbox. As a later car it benefits from galvanised chassis, stainless steel bulkhead and aluminium bodywork with superformed wings, giving much better corrosion protection than the older models.
Extras: desirable lowline body with wider chrome wire wheels. Factory extras including: sports seats, walnut dash and steering wheel, Sony CD/ radio with remote control, cross-member covers, Librands sports gearshift, luggage rack, round mirrors and wing top lights. Fitted tool kit. Factory rustproofed from new. The car additionally has the great benefit of a Simmonds easy-up hood in mohair with matching leather hood bag and mohair tonneau cover.
Service history: 2 owners before me, both long term, who looked after it. This car has never failed an MoT or had even a single advisory in 22 years. In the past 6 months I have invested nearly £7000 with a well known Morgan specialist to make this car an outstanding example. Work includes:
- fully upgraded Rutherford front suspension with new hard chrome king pins, main and rebound springs, blades and AVO shocks etc . Steering and roadholding much improved over standard.
- rebuilt steering rack.
- rebuilt front and rear brakes: new calipers pads and discs on the front, new cylinders and shoes on the rear.
- new cambelt, tensioner and aux belt
- new upgraded performance alloy radiator and expansion tank.
- new stainless grill.
- new twin Librands spotlights wired in.
- 4 new Yokohama tyres.
- fully serviced with all oils, and filters changed inc engine (now has a K&N filter fitted), gearbox and rear axle.
The car is perfect and needs nothing: I regularly use it for the 5hr round trip to Brooklands and it doesn't miss a beat. I would think it is now one of the best in the country. Would consider pre-war P/ X: Rolls Royce, Bentley, Riley, Armstrong Siddeley or Daimler.
With £7000 invested in the last 6 months, this car is perfect.
