This is my 1956 Triumph Trophy TR5 500cc ‘pre-unit’. I bought it in its current set up because I loved the ISDT detailings that the former owner had done to it and it really looks spot on. He made it into as close a replica of the works team bikes from 1954 and I think he nailed it
I got the bike 2 years ago and although it was in good condition I like my bike to work well so I had it gone through by a fantastic mechanic who knows these bikes very well.
So in 2022 he:
Checked and adjusted the mag
Removed, stripped, checked dynamo
Stripped, cleaned the carb - new jets
New taps to fuel tank (re-tapped threads)
Check / repair wiring. New voltage regulator and new rear light units
New electronic ignition installed
Made bespoke carb cables and adjusted twist throttle
New primary chain - adjust and aline
Oil filter and sump plate removed and inspected - new filter installed
New fork oil
Obviously as he was doing this work he did a load of little checks and adjustments as he went along to get the bike right.
I really liker this bike but the truth is I have hardly ridden it as I have a young family and lots of other commitments hence why it is for sale.
It is UK registered in my name and has its original buff log book from 1956 plus a record of the work that has been done to it in my ownership.
