1984 Mercedes 190D 2. 0 for sale as a running driving project which I bought recently but do not have the time to start in light of recent events.

Finished in Moss Green with a green cloth interior, this early model W201 started life as the consulate car' for the British Embassy in Nairobi Kenya in 1984.
It then spent a very brief time with U. K. special forces before being transferred back to the U. K. and registered B138LAO. It was sold through Mercedes Benz Carlisle to a private owner a school headmaster, who looked after the car religiously and serviced her at Mercedes Benz dealers for the next 20+ years - a significant history file accompanies the car documenting its maintenance up to 2004 and 240, 000km.

During heavy snow that winter, the car was stored indoors and the barn roof collapsed on to this car and a similar era G Wagen (which bore the brunt) but some damage was done to the roof. The car remained off the road for 17 years until it was recommissioned in 2021 and used for some time as daily transport by its third owner; from whom I acquired it.

The condition is generally sound and straight apart from some damage to the roof, which is currently covered with a 10mm rubberised plastic material to mask damage and aid transporting items on the roof. The car is watertight and the interior is in generally excellent condition for its age. Everything works well, heater and rear window heater, that’s about it in a base model 190D and she drives extremely well producing good power and sitting happily at 75mph.

I have done an oil change and changed the fuel filters as a precaution and the car drives great. It has MOT until July and will either provide a fun daily driver or basis of a project. My intention was to repair the roof and completely overhaul the bodywork but other commitments mean this will not be possible this year.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call.

Thanks
