Finished in classic Midnight Black this GTi is all original in unmodified factory spec.
Dry throughout, the interior is in the original rainbow trim and in great condition for the 33 years since leaving the factory, with the additional benefits of factory fitted power steering, and electric front windows, (rear windows and sunroof are manual), it is an absolute pleasure to drive.
Due to work and family commitments the car is currently in need of a loving new home and a little TLC. It's off the road at the moment but only due to a pinprick hole in the heater matrix, which results in a fogged windscreen once the engine comes up to temperature. I have the replacement part ready to install and had planned on doing it myself but just haven't been able to get an opportunity to get it done. Apart from the matrix there are one or two blemishes to attend to to really bring the car back to A1, but otherwise this is a great example of a appreciating classic which is only getting rarer all the time, particularly of this kind that hasn’t been tampered with or mistreated.
I’ve had the car myself since around 2007, having taken it on from a friend who had it trouble free and looked after it well for a number of years before me. I would love to get it back on the road myself but at the moment, particularly with the prospect of more family commitments, I’m just not getting the opportunity and I’m unlikely to anytime soon, and it’s breaking my heart to see it standing.
