In 1950, the National Institute of Industry in Spain created SEAT, the Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo Sociedad Anónima (Spanish Society of Passenger Cars, Inc.). In 1953, the first assembled unit of the SEAT 1400 rolled out of its factory. However, it wasn't until 1957 that the brand's true revolution began with the introduction of the Seat 600. We present this magnificent fully restored unit from 1963, a first-series Seat "Seiscientos" (600). An authentic classic "Seilla" in exceptional condition, one of the best Seat 600s currently in circulation in Spain.
This unit has been restored under the direction of Spain's leading collector of the brand. The mechanics have only covered 1, 300 km since their reconstruction. The body, the undercarriage, and the interior have been carefully restored, preserving original elements like the steering wheel, dashboard, emblems... with an unmistakable vintage and nostalgic aroma.
Driving it transports you to the pleasure of enjoying a vehicle designed in Italy in the 1950s. The older sibling of the Fiat 500, this first series differs from the subsequent and much more numerous 600s with features like turn signals and position lights at the top of the fenders, a speedometer calibrated up to 110 km/ h, floor-pull starter, a separate door lock cylinder, taillights with all-red lenses, among other details.
Its driving condition is perfect. This unit shows no steering play, something very common in almost all units. The suspension and bushings are completely adjusted, and the car handles like it's on rails with an exceptional composure. The drum brakes are perfectly adjusted. The pleasure of cruising at 70 km/ h is real. It's a true restoration and overhaul that feels like a new car with 60 years behind it.
It is registered in Spain as a historic vehicle, certifying its authenticity by the Spanish authorities. This is a very interesting unit with a much higher collector's value compared to a contemporary Fiat 600. Its value is on the rise, especially with SEAT's imminent discontinuation as an automaker. It's a unique opportunity with very few units available in this old and pristine condition.
