Description

Ldv Convoy 2. 5DI XLWB Recovery Truck - Spares or Repairs

Please read this description from start to finish. I make no illusions that this is either for spares or repairs. I would strongly advise recovery of this however once the money is in my hand and the logbook is in your name, it will be yours to do with as you please. These are the only photos I have from 2022 - the truck is in storage and has been untouched since. Please bear in mind that what you are seeing IS the vehicle for sale, however it will have 24 months worth of dust and dirt on it now. 1999 LDV Convoy XLWB, fitted with the 2. 5 direct injection Ford 'Banana' engine.

I have owned this since 2019 and bought to start my own recovery business which I never progressed. Due to having too many vehicles and a lifestyle change I am now deciding to put this up for sale.

Last on the road in 2022 and will require, amongst other things, welding to the cab and chassis in various areas.

The body is a durable steel beavertail fitted atop an extra long wheelbase LDV Convoy chassis. The rear has both leaf and coil 'helper' springs

GOOD POINTS:

- Rare vehicle now
- 2. 5 DI Ford Banana engine - stickered Ivor Searle on the block, meaning it has had either a replacement or rebuilt engine at some stage in its life. Oil and filter change as well as fuel and air filter by myself in 2022 and not used much since
- Champion winch fitted - very strong and functioning when vehicle parked up
- Cab, cab floor and chassis were painted and undersealed by myself in 2022. This will need doing again no doubt.
- Many rare parts - instrument cluster with rev counter, LDV radio cassette, Euroliner chrome wheel trims.
- V5C in my name.
- The cab floor looks largely solid from the inside however has been patched a fair bit in the past.

BAD POINTS:

- The truck has been off the road since 2022. It will need substantial welding to the cab inner arches and the rear chassis. This would be better as a donor for a healthier chassis cab to make your new recovery truck
- There is a diesel leak. The engine starts (with a lot of persuasion) and will run, but this isn't ideal. I identified this as being a leak from the fuel line near the fuel filter housing, some new hose would sort it.
- Probably wants the kingpins replacing. I drove this back from Cornwall to Scotland in 2019 and the steering has always felt 'loose'. But this is an LDV trait so may not be as bad as I describe.
- Presently no ramps - I have a set of lowered ramps which are available separately after negotiation.
- Rear lights are present but damaged - I replaced these but due to sitting lower and the swivel items originally fitted these ended up scraping the ground. Still present.
- Rewired the rear lights with seven core wiring however lights will need wiring in properly.
- Replaced all side marker lights with brand new LED units however presently not wired in.
- Replaced bed lights with brand new LED units however presently not wired in.

To sum up, I WOULD STRONGLY ADVISE NOT DRIVING THIS AWAY AND ARRANGING RECOVERY DUE TO BEING OFF THE ROAD SINCE 2022 AND NEEDING THE WORK AS DESCRIBED ABOVE.

This still holds the potential as being a money making machine, and could even be ideal for export.

In storage in Glasgow.
