Description
This is a 1981 SH model, imported from the US in 1999. It's been in my ownership since 2008. As far as I can tell I'm the fourth UK owner, there is no history available prior to import but the mileage seems genuine. I have always maintained the bike with care over the 7, 000 miles I've done, and have stored it in a dry garage. I've kept the bike as original as possible but with with sensible upgrades (Hagon shocks, bronze swinging arm bushes, new front brake master cylinder) as needed. The bike is unrestored, so you will find some age-related marks on the paintwork and chrome, I also inherited a minor dent in the tank (penultimate photo) and a scrape on the right hand engine case (last photo). Where I have replaced parts, the originals will be included with the bike should you be so inclined. The bike is clean and tidy and ready to ride. Everything works, no faults or issues or "it just needs". The electric starter works fine with no undue noises, or kick start if you prefer (my knees are getting past it now).
The bike had a professional top end overhaul 1, 100 miles ago in 2017 (new barrels, pistons, cam chain and guides) at an excellent local old-school workshop. The bike has historic tax status, and I had it MOT'd in June for peace of mind. Battery, brake pads, chain, sprockets and tyres (sorry about the whitewall on the rear) all have plenty of life left in them. I originally bought this bike as a commuter (don't laugh) for the daily ride to and from the station. It was fantastic in that role and never ever let me down, putting a smile on my face at the beginning and end of each working day. It's a lovely fun ride, pulls superbly and is better than you might think on the twisty bits. Since retiring in 2018 I've hardly used it and that's not going to change. I enjoy keeping it smart but have no interest in doing a nut and bolt restoration, so it's time for someone else to have some fun.
