1973 Type 2 Late Bay window Campervan - ‘Barney’
Originally a Devon conversion from JP White in Sidmouth Devon. Acquired in 2010 by myself as a stripped out shell and underwent a windows out, roof off, recommission/ bodywork restoration and repaint 2011-2013. (Pastel white L90D over British Blue - LT5E - originally Sumatra Green – L61B)
Engine
Original 1600cc Aircooled twin port single carb (34pict-carb just rebuilt) Exhaust just replaced along with J tubes. Runs perfectly.
Replaced 2023/ 24;
Fuel lines and fuel pump. (R9 bio fuel resistant rubber with fuel filter)

Interior
Starlight Campers bespoke interior units inc overhead Locker, wardrobe and above counter storage inc LED lights. Dometic 2ring gas burner with sink + pumped water tap and waste outlet, 240volt hook up with 2 x sockets & USB ports plus 110amp leisure battery and 3/ 4 rock and roll bed. 12v socket under sink for cool box. Full matching curtains all round. Jail bars on rear hatch window. Empi short throw gear change. New inertia seatbelts up front with 1 lap belt + 1 inertia in back on custom made bracket. Under dash Bamboo shelves. Deluxe window winders + door handles.
Upholstery
All bespoke/ custom made blended Blue/ Cream colour way seats to fit inc doors cards by ‘The Dub Father’ Madmatz cab carpet and deck hatch custom trimmed to fit.
Exterior
Full length Devon style elevating roof with White concertina bellows. All window seals replaced with deluxe versions from Heritage VW. All door handles re-chromed. Eyelids to headlights. Twin louvered window with fly screen mesh restored and installed to middle offside. Period registration plates. Alloy side entry step.
Current wedding hire business model with established portfolio which can be transferred to the new owner. Always dry stored. Sadly the time has come to sell on my T2 Baywindow Campervan ‘Barney’ to his next custodian as I no longer get the time, or opportunity to use him for his intended purpose. He’s a fully functional Campervan that’s ready to go on his next adventure and wants for nothing (apart from a new owner to use and love him!)
