Description

1986 Jeep J20 Pickup – Partially Restored – Thousands Spent
Overview:
Regretfully selling my 1986 Jeep J20 Pickup, partway through a restoration project. Originally a fire engine, this classic truck has had significant work done, including a rebuilt engine, transmission, and numerous upgrades. I planned to ship it overseas for completion, but costs make this unfeasible. It’s an great project vehicle with immense potential for someone who appreciates classic Jeeps.

Key Features:
Engine: Rebuilt 5. 9L V8 (360 cubic inches)

Engine bored, honed, decked, and fitted with new pistons, rings, and crankshaft bearings
Cylinder heads skimmed with new valve guides, machined valve seats, new Comp Cams Torquer cam, valve springs, and stem seals
New water pump, oil pump, MSD billet distributor, MSD 6AL ignition module, and MSD Blaster ignition coil
New harmonic balancer, flex plate, and rebuilt starter motor
Aftermarket aluminium Jeep valve covers

Transmission: Rebuilt TorqueFlite 727 automatic transmission

New clutch plates, brake bands, seals, billet accumulator, and servo pistons
Fresh filter and fluid
Reconditioned torque converter
Drivetrain:

DANA 60 rear axle and DANA 44 front axle
Transfer case seals replaced
Body & Suspension:

Polyurethane body mounts, suspension bushes, and engine mounts
New windscreen, gasket, and all-weather stripping (doors, seals, and window guides)
New brake master cylinder

Other Notable Upgrades:
New coolant pipes
Rebuilt power steering pump
New fuel level sender

Condition:
This Jeep is a restoration project and is not yet complete. Until recently it was in pieces and was put together to ship abroad. Thousands of pounds have been spent, and it’s well on its way to becoming a stunning classic. Some bodywork and finishing touches will be needed to bring it to its full potential.

The engine starts and runs but is a little tricky to start, the carb has been rebuilt but it may be worth swapping it for a Holley or similar with an electric choke. I was planning on replacing the intake manifold for a 4 barrel type and Holley Sniper fuel injection in the fullness of time.

Reason for Sale:
I’m moving overseas, and the cost of shipping is prohibitive, so I must let it go. This is a rare classic pickup in the UK, very few were imported. There is still plenty of parts available from the US and Europe.
